Move it Outside

Bright Bright sunny day outside. Heading uptown to the Metropolitan, my favorite museum in the city, to see Charles Marville’s pictures of what I would call early modern Paris in the making. Slipping my DSL camera in my bag for a walk around Central Park after.

This time of year, a camera or two is in my bag when I’m out and about. You never know when something interesting puts itself right in front of you. Yes, a pretty good camera is on my phone and always with me, but it’s nice to know the good lens with different options is also available. Just knowing the equipment is in my bag somehow pushes me to look for interesting things, not just fly past in a daze, not taking time to actually look around me.

New York has many many museums. Visiting them with any kind of frequency can get expensive if you’re not a member. One of the very few things I miss about working at a big corporate entity is the free museum pass. It let me jump in for a short visit to see one or two exhibits without paying $25 to walk in the door. Can get expensive if you don’t have one. If you are lucky enough to have one, use it. It can be a quick and easy escape when you need. A bit of time for yourself. Interesting things to look at and appreciate. A quiet haven. Peace.

My favorite picture today? A bed at the museum, of course!
